What is the Technical Entry Scheme (TES)?
The Technical Entry Scheme (TES) is designed for 10+2 students who wish to join the Indian Army as technical officers. Under this scheme, candidates are selected based on their performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, followed by a rigorous selection process that includes an interview and medical examination. Successful candidates undergo training at the CME, Pune/MCTE, Mhow/MCEME, Secunderabad for three years & Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun for One Year.
Eligibility Criteria for TES
To be eligible for the Technical Entry Scheme, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1)Educational Qualification.
a)Only those candidates who have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from INDIAN ARMY (PERMANENT COMMISSION) 10+2 TECHNICAL ENTRY SCHEME - 53 COURSE COMMENCING FROM JUL 2025 3 recognized education boards are eligible to apply for this entry. Eligibility condition for calculating PCM percentage of various state /central boards will be based on marks obtained in Class XII only.
b)Candidate must have appeared in JEE (Mains) 2024.
2) Age Limit:
a) A candidate must not be below 16½ years and above 19½years on the first day of the month in which the course is due to commence i.e. the candidate should not be born before 02 Jan 2006 and not after 01 Jan 2009 (both days inclusive). Nationality: Indian citizens and subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, can apply.
3)Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.
4)Selection Process
Application > Shortlisting > SSB Interview > Medical > Merit List > Joining Letter
5) Training. Total training will be of 4 years. Details are as under:-
a) Phase-I. Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training at CME, Pune/MCTE, Mhow/MCEME, Secunderabad for three years.
b) Phase-II. Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training for one year at IMA, Dehradun or designated PCTA (Pre Commission Training Academy).
c) Award of Degree. The candidates will be awarded Engineering degree after successful completion of 04 (four) years training. No ante date seniority will be admissible to candidates on account of this Engineering degree. During the entire training duration of four years a maximum of two relegations will be permitted on account of academic grounds in accordance with JNU Ordinance. Any further relegation on academic grounds will lead to withdrawal from training.
6)Vacancies. 90. The Vacancies are provisional and can be changed depending on the training capacity at the Cadets Training Wings for this course. The vacancies are subject to increase/decrease keeping the organizational requirement at that point of time.
